Vision & Mission

THE PROJECT.

GRCISA has launched a capital campaign for Phase II of Reno Ice. This will be an additional NHL regulation size ice rink directly south of Phase I, connected by the mezzanine and locker room facilities. The state-of-the-art venue will provide additional year-round recreation for people of all ages. User fees will cover operating costs, and a scholarship program which will continue to ensure no youth is denied the opportunity to participate in programs.

THE NEED.

Washoe County has a diverse population with a large number of young people, students, and families. With the growing demographics, the area is in need of more year-round recreational facilities and activities. Currently, people in the area have limited options when it comes to finding daily, evening, and weekend ice activities. The addition of the second rink will allow the nonprofit the ability to have more ice related activities at one time. The popularity of Phase I was not anticipated to the degree in which it has been utilized; therefore, requiring an additional sheet of ice to fulfill the community’s need. This will allow us to continue to offer a variety of fun and affordable programs including public skating sessions, learn to skate programs, adaptive ice sports, figure skating, ice hockey, group and private lessons, parties, exhibitions, tournaments and competitions.

MISSION STATEMENT.

The Greater Reno Community Ice Skating Association (GRCISA) was established with the sole purpose of creating and maintaining a reliable high-quality, ice-skating rink in Reno where both youth and adults can enjoy year-round skating activities. The facility will sponsor and develop programs that bring cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities to the area for youth and adults, local residents and visitors, and will strengthen the new recreational economic base for the city.
