Reno Figure Skating Academy is a bridge program for skaters at a Basic 5 or higher who are interested in skating more and learning how to train to become a figure skater in the United States Figure Skating Program.

This is a Reno Ice Monthly membership of $450.

7 sessions of training a week with an Olympic and Master PSA Rated coaches would normally be $235.25 a week which is $941.00 a month. Skaters committing to the monthly membership get more than 50% off, saving about $450 a month! Plus, you’ll get bonus free freestyle sessions whenever Academy takes a break for camps.

  • 3 on ice sessions a week

  • One on-ice power class a week

  • 3 off-ice classes a week

  • 3 hours of instruction a week on ice and 3 off ice classes a week.

Schedule for the Reno Figure Skating Academy:

 Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 PM-5:30 PM

  • 3:30 PM-4:15 PM On-Ice Freestyle session: for practicing on their own

  • 4:15 PM-4:45 PM On-Ice Class with only Academy skaters (skaters will be split into groups according to their skating level)

  • 5:00 PM-5:30 PM Off-Ice Class (Tuesday: body conditioning/Thursday: learning to do on ice jumps off the ice)

  • Saturdays 7:00 AM-9:45 AM

  • 7:00 AM-7:45 AM On-Ice Freestyle session: for practicing on their own.

  • 7:45 AM-8:15 AM On-Ice 30 minutes of Power & Edge class

  • 8:15 AM-8:45 AM On-Ice Class With only Academy skaters (skaters will be split into groups according to their skating level)

  • 8:45 AM-9:45 AM Off-Ice: 60 min of Ballet (upstairs from the bleachers)

OFF-ICE TRAININGSkaters will learn the proper way to warm-up, stretch, body positions for strength, and learn to jump and spin on the ice.  Off-ice exercises will be taught to help with jumps and spins on the ice.

ON-ICE: Skaters will learn edge control with speed and power/Moves in the Field- controlled edge patterns and the beginning fundamentals of jumps and spins will be taught.

 Skaters can prepare to test or compete and join the Sierra Nevada Figure Skating Club.

Academy will run all year. A 6-month commitment is recommended. Membership will be prorated if signing up after the first of the month. Skaters may choose to do only 2 days of the Academy, but will have to pay a daily rate of $50.
