Youth Hockey Progression Steps

Step 1: Learn to Skate– ages 3 and up.  It is very important to complete at least Basic 1 level of Learn to Skate before moving to step 2-  Learn to Play.

Step 2: NHL Learn to Play– ages 5-9. Once weekly Sunday sessions.

Step 3: Continue to Play– this is our bridge program for players not yet ready to join their age group level. Once weekly ice sessions.

Step 4: Join your age group in our City League from September– March. We practice one evening per week and play a game on Saturdays.

Step 5: Tryout for one of our Travel League teams. We hold tryouts at the end of August and compete in the NORCAL League.

Teams practice twice per week, and play roughly 22 games per season and participate in one travel tournament.

*Supplemental Step: Join RHA. This is a year round monthly membership group that guarantees you access to three training sessions per week plus four day camps throughout the year.

Summer: We play games once a week in order to keep developing our on-ice skills. We encourage our athletes to play other sports and participate in other activities in order to become well-rounded humans.
